These are some of the projects we have been working on recently. As you can see we work on a wide variation of projects. (Please be aware that we do not get involved in the design side of web sites. The quality of design in these projects may vary).
PDF Creation plugin for CMS
Bluestorm New Media, asked us to help them create a PDF creation plugin for their in-house CMS that is being used by Humberside Police.
The tool needed to give editors the ability to create PDF newsletters with content from their site, including any appropriate imagery. Editors also needed to be able to reorder content, create any number of pages for their newsletters.
The tool was written as a plugin so it could be used for any of Bluestorm's clients using their CMS.
After our initial research and protoyping we went with using wkhtmltopdf to produce the PDF from the HTML views. This was done to allow easy previewing of content in HTML as the editors created the PDFs.
Work involved
- Researched the best solution for creating the PDF document
- Developed the plugin using Ruby on Rails
- Created the necessary XHTML, CSS and JS
- Setup the client's server to run the plugin
