Huge success for Sytner's BMW 5 Series Campaign

We were recently approached by Wildfire Advertising with the brief of creating an online competition microsite as part of the Sytner Group's BMW 5 Series Campaign. Visitors were driven to the microsite by an email campaign sent out by the Agency.

We created the microsite using HTML5, CSS, JS and CodeIgniter, an open source PHP web framework. This was a first full use of CodeIgniter for a live project and we found the development to be pretty simple. It is not quite on a par with other MVC frameworks, however it has really good performance and worked nicely on a small site like this.

As part of the brief we were asked to handle 15 different competition urls to store which branch campaign the competition entry had come from. The email Wildfire Advertising sent out informing people about the new BMW 5 Series and inviting them to play the online quiz got on average around a 30% open rate. The highest open rate came from High Wycombe with a massive 39.17%!

In total the competition microsite had 3,465 visits, with 3,230 entries to the prize draw - that's the most entries to an online competition that Sytner has ever had. The previous best was around 2,700, however this was sent to over 100,000 people. The BMW 5 Series campaign was only deployed to half that number.

Once a visitor completed the competition, they were invited to visit a branch specific version of the BMW 5 Series site. This generated 867 visits to the Sytner website.

Wildfire Advertising haven't got all the stats for the number of people who booked their place at the launch of the new BMW 5 Series, but we know that the Sytner Group have had over 50 people wishing to attend the launch at one of their dealerships. This is a level response they are very happy with.

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank Wildfire Advertising for picking The League to partner them on this project.
